There appears to be no dedicated intervention on women’s empowerment in Nigeria and these are not to be expected in the culturally conservative northern states.
Enhancing the access of girls to secondary education would be a significant means of empowerment, delaying marriage and the birth of the first child, and enabling them to obtain employment in urban areas.
