Excerpt / Summary
In this journal is the most interesting and useful because not only does it talk about dystopia but it does indeed even use real life examples that are not too specific. By using general ideas it makes it not only more open for interpretation and more room for others to expand on the idea but it gives the reader a chance to imagine. This is extremely useful since dystopia is referred to as a fictional future. In this journal it go’s into how “Some of the most recent literature within urban studies gives the distinct impression that the contemporary city now constitutes an intensely uneven patchwork of utopian and dystopian spaces” Which obviously ties together the same connection I make of literature and reality. Since most of my readers will be mostly from the U.S and I use examples mostly from the U.S this journal by pointing out “fiercely hostile, dystopian environment ‘out there’. This is captured in a number of (largely US).” displays how events in the U.S would be in fact a dystopia. Using this kind of information will not only give examples but also relate dystopia to the actual world we live in which makes the future possibilities narrower.
