社會變遷使得尪仔會漸漸青黃不接，只剩職業團體負責陣頭，甚至有些還被幫派控制，「很多人都以為書讀不好的孩子才會玩陣頭，事實上，以前被選出來參加迎神賽會是種光榮，表現必須要好。」游錫財說，不僅如此，過往儘管不富有，但尪仔會員即使分期付款籌錢，也要讓大仙尪威嚴體面，把陣頭步伐練好、迎神賽會辦好，現在卻只求讓外面團體來完成，並且只買制式塑膠作的大仙尪，甚至無法組裝好大仙尪，以致於現在大仙尪不僅缺乏工藝特有的美感，也失去了原有的文化精神。
