Persuasive Games (Ian Bogost)
http://www.bogost.com/

Ian Bogost is a Rhetorician and Video Game Designer, Critic, and Researcher (he currently runs several game design companies while teaching at Georgia Tech).  Along with Karl Kapp, Lee Sheldon, James Paul Gee, Jane McDonigal, and Jesse Schell, Ian Bogost is considered one of the top scholars in game-based learning.

Ian Bogost promotes the design of Persuasive Games (games with a social and political dimension and message) for education.  My position on persuasive games differs from Bogost's, in that I see rhetoric in all types of video games (and not just video games made specifically with the intention for persuasion).

My goal is to teach students to identify rhetoric no matter the situation or context, and the immersive environments of video games offer one of the most engaging environments to keep students interested and invested in their learning process.
