Kennan via email: "I think a common vision is necessary - but it doesn't have to be identical (and can't be, in any case, given individualism). Any great change, and any momentum towards such, needs a vision in my experience. The vision should be clear enough and big enough that our individual variations and points of view will still have everyone pointing in the same direction. I was taken very early on in my work with Robert Fritz's structural tension model from his book 'The Path of Least Resistance.' He gives the example of artists that produce great works of mastery; my build upon his model incorporates a group creating something masterful. In his model there is a constant comparison of 'reality' vs 'vision,' creating directional movement and structural tension to course correct and to move."
