Being a civil engineer and contractor
adept at project management, he is very organized and he
gets things done (a basic skill for successful contractors). His personal enterprise could be considered a Filipino empire already being one of the biggest contractor in the Philippines. He has done it for himself, he could do it for the Philippines.
Marikina City, now ran by his wife as mayor, by him as mayor then, and by his father as former mayor there too, has become a very orderly and clean city. This is very apparent when you drive around Marikina, it's very clean. He can also be credited by turning the riverbanks of Marikina into a park and provide miles of walking pleasure. Marikina City is also the only city with bike lanes and bike parking slots. He has done it there in Marikina, he could do it for the Philippines.
Most importantly, no one has ever done (not even Binay) for Metro Manila (as administrator) what he had done albeit raising the ire of erring citizens, e.g., sidewalk vendors that spill out to the streets are summarily plucked, informal settlers along the riverbanks are ejected for their own safety, pink (?!) steel pedestrian overpasses and male urinals are miraculously all over the place already, he is into an aggressive campaign to make Metro Manila clean, safe and orderly (including traffic). These are gargantuan tasks (like untying a Gordian knot) that log heads with hard headed citizens (as we Filipinos by nature are). Therefore, it is not surprising that these people almost call him Hitler. Some civil society members even call him Nosferatu. But, these all have to be done for Metro Manila and it is being done, thanks to BF.
Will the Philippines prosper under him. Probably Yes, too. The last civil engineer President (and with military might too) was Ramos and the Philippines did experience prosperity under him.
Isn't it that sometime ago everybody is aspiring that the Philippines should have a benevolent strongman like Lee Kuan Yew? Is BF benevolent? I don't know. But, perhaps this could be BF albeit he might be aesthetically challenged by favoriting the color pink (just a joke).
