Energy Update 2011 summarises trends in Australian energy production, consumption and trade between 1973-74 and 2009-10 across jurisdictions and industry sectors. The accompanying Australian Energy Statistics is a set of excel files which present detailed tables of historical energy consumption and production statistics by industry, by fuel type and by state and territory.
For the first time, ABARES is using the Australian Government's National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting (NGER) database as the primary data source, supplemented by data from other sources, as well as estimation and modelling for the sectors not covered by NGER. ABARES's energy statistics are widely used by government, industry and the general community.
