War costs too much for the taxpayer
The lyrics in the song "writing checks that others pay" is a reference to the high cost of war and how politicians have no regret in starting a war because they are not the ones responsible for paying for it.
American Historian, Howard Zinn, once stated that the War in Iraq accounted as a government expense of $87 Billion dollars a year. Some American politicians have no awareness of the moral and economic costs of a war like the war in Iraq.
