Partially born children should be considered people Component1 #1240 Partial birth abortion—also known as Dilation and Extraction—is a method used in second and third trimester abortions (which account for roughly 10% of total abortions). The method is described further in the detailed text. |
- In partial birth abortions, the woman's cervix is dilated and the foetus is partially removed, feet first, from the womb.
- The surgeon inserts a sharp object into the back of the foetus' head, removes it, and inserts a vacuum tube through which the brain is extracted.
- The head of the foetus contracts at this point, allowing the foetus to be more easily removed from the womb.
