Suing banks will help Govt. recoup bailout money.
The Government is suing for an undisclosed amount of money which will include compensation for lost principle and interest as well as attorneys' fees and legal costs.

The United States Government took ownership of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in 2008. The Fox news article states that the Government stands to gain an undisclosed amount of money from a successful outcome to the lawsuits. The article does specify that the Government is suing to have the purchases of the securities canceled. The total amount for the securities involved that were purchased by Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac add up to $196 billion. The Government also seeks compensation for lost principal and interest payments as well as attorney fees and costs. (Fox News)
