Neil Izenberg has had a career-long interest in children, health, and families. Recently retired, Dr. Izenberg was a nationally-known pediatrician and educational media producer in The United States. As founding chief executive of the Nemours Childrenâs Health Systemâs Center for Health Media (part of the Nemours Childrenâs Health System), Izenberg launched and led KidsHealth.org, the worldâs most-visited site about childrenâs health and parenting.
During his career, Izenberg produced hundreds of film/video and animated programs and created a large library of simple, illustrated care instructions used by most of the childrenâs hospitals in the US. His work has included numerous academic studies, a range of books for parents, series of emergency guides for clinicians, an encyclopedia about human diseases for teens, and a board game for kids about playfully meeting some of lifeâs most âscaryâ challenges.
Izenberg has served as an advisor, consultant, and/or program developer for Sesame Workshop, Cheerios, the American Medical Association, the CDC, Procter & Gamble, Sprout, the NBA/WNBA, Seventeen Magazine, and the Michael Phelps Foundation, among others.
Along the way, Izenberg and his team have received including 3 Emmy nominations, 4 Webby Awards, the American Academy of Pediatrics Education Award, and dozens of top international juried awards for film, print, and educational innovation.
Neil lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
