4. Referenda on national level
This format was considered to be rather not sutiable.
It may stipulate a political debate in the citizenry but most citizens are not willing or able to intensively evaluate complex issues. Therefore populist positions may prevail. Additionally the results of referenda are considered to represent "the people's will" and are thus hard to overrule. A scientist therefore pledged to rather rely on non-binding referenda.
