Uncertain effect on urban traffic
The effect of car-sharing on urban traffic (increasing or decreasing) is uncertain.
Car sharing concerns the mode of ownership rather than the car technology (e.g. electric or diesel) or mode of driving (e.g. individual or bundled). Therefore, it is unclear what the effects of the spread of car sharing would be on urban mobility. One can imagine that car sharing might even lead to increasing traffic because people have a flexible and convenient access to a car that they might not have had before.
