Increasing CO2 emissions
CO2 emissions in the transport sector need to be significantly reduced in order to meet the federal government's climate protection goals.
The transport sector is often described as the problem child of the energy transition because carbon emissions continue to rise  in this sector. There have been some efficiency gains but they are not enough to compensate for the trend of increasing traffic. There is an urgent need to find ways to reduce the emissions in the transport sector in order to meet the 2050 federal government climate protection goals. This would not be possible if urban mobility remains on its current trajectory.
