LSE estimates for ID System as envisaged in 2005
The LSE estimated in 2005 that the likely cost of implementing the ID scheme as envisaged in 2005 would will be in the range £10.6bn (without any cost over-runs or implementation problems) to £19.2bn, with a median figure £14.5 billion.
The costs estimates were presented in the LSE's June 2005 report: The Identity Project: an assessment of the UK Identity Cards Bill and its implications.
