When diagnostic criteria change, old research problematic.

From a U.S. clinical psychologist:

"When diagnostic criteria change, the old research is problematic. It may be possible to obtain the raw data from past research and re-analyze it using the new criteria. Otherwise, the research on schizophrenia may include people who no longer qualify as schizophrenic."
