Brian Donohue - DailyCalifornian, UC Berkeley student newspaper interview with Kennan, on social entrepreneurship in public university.

Kimberly Wiefling– Starting to integrate into F4H and work out how to best contribute. Just got out of another group to come and be inspired.

John Kelly –Successful production of the Foundations of Mind (FoM) conference March 6-7 at UC Berkeley now working to get it funded to do it next year in Los Angeles. FoM brings together a wide spectrum from hard nosedscientists/ physicists to social science to Deepak Chopra. Somehow gets thatcrew of people to agree it's productive and useful to pursue collaborating in a true spirit of inquiry.

Kimberly King Served on board of Deepak Chopra’s foundation and has known him for a lot of years. It would be beneficial to have the true cross spectrum dialog – I know of many other cross-spectrum entities. Update – Been travelling over several weeks to Atlanta,DC, NYC – mostly been attending the UN Commission on Women.

Michael Norwood spoke with Ron Turner on SBAInnovation Research grants

Jonathan Trent –Brian Wright at UC Berkeley who wrote about grain price increases – food pricescould be rising since 2005 because of bio fuel production – he is part of BPfunded group.

Linda Staheli  Spoke with Marje - we are planning DC session to move idea of Dragon Film festival forward. Working on creating Debategraph map on Dyslexia to connect various groups:

Marje Etheridege– invited Ann Basarab to join us today, she played a major role in Dr Neil Shulman’s Global Health and Humanitarian Summit. Video $10. We should consider creating a book ofstories and articles from F4H. Touch base with Kimberly King who spoke withNeil Shulman about book and film.

Learn about different tools. www.Nautilus.org is a multi-year effort on global collaborations – a fabulous set of tools, mapping & resources pulled together by Peter Hayes. Linda spoke with Dan Desmond about Collaborate.org and will connect with Kevin Montgomery when he is in DC. Kimberly King met with multiple groups at the UN Conference on the Commission on Women about Collaborate.org – bringing in networks Kevin Montgomery & she are both in, to leverage the tools to catalyze to shift to next level

Sustainable Development (3/18)

-    World Business Council for Sustainable Development - Jim Caldwell notes they mapped out to 2050. Kennan – this was EU project with Bob Horn.

-    UC Berkeley worked on sustainable cities – Urban and regional planning. Fred Collignon – to get to him – go through Brian Donohue.

-    CERES.org – 25 years of advocacy, John Kelly’s sister Ann Kelly has project on which companies collaborate on green initiatives.

-    Connect Sandy’s corporate strategy and Brian’s Public university contracts

-    Brian suggests planning a conference on the social strategy model.

-    Jim Caldwell: San Jose State has Engineering students team to make sustainable neighborhoods under the “Communiversity Model” - Terry Christensen.

Grants (3/25)

We had a discussion on Small Business Innovation Research Grants.  Jack Park has won 3 of these. Issued in conjunction with different Fed Depts – but generally:

Phase 1 6 mths, $50k+, basically for writing the proposal for Phase 2

Phase 2 1+ years, $500k

Phase 3 – Build a market, make it a business $1M or so

Some bias to open source, and open research, since funding by tax payers

Corporate Kid –(3/18)

Met with Bill Kent, CEO of TNT, because we believe media is a great way to get the message out to kids right now.  You can look up Neil Shulman's book. 

-          BackSack project - piloting 100 CEOs with 100 kids. Doing a reality show, a documentary, ultimately leading to a film. Curriculum can be created at Stanford by Tom Kosnick.

-          Charging CEOs $50,000.  Will create a foundation to give shares to the kids.

-          At ASVEN Conference Marje was invited to Singapore to bring this concept.

1. Kimberly Wiefling – Get going on Team Collaboration agreements

2. Brian – Start working on seminal article with Kennan.  After next call, we will talk about social entrepreneurship in public universities – will be in touch with Marje’
3. Michael – talk with Ron Turner, contact Jack Park and Brian Donohue

4. Jonathan – get 3 proposals done by Monday Build an open source system to look for places around the world where Omega can be built to address water, food and energy. Goal is to get DoE involved to do it as open source system with techno-economic and lifecycle analysis – get ball rolling – new report about global warming – impact of current global warming on all sectors including health – run into data issues with program – Kevin helped solve some problems – but Collaborate.org needs help! Get funding networks to help Kevin get system up and running – its working better and still not user friendly – getting students involved

5. Marje – meet with Sophia Parker in DC – April1-5 – working on an App

6. Jacqueline – meeting with Kennan and Valerie to brainstorm about collaborative learning for CHC – touching base with JonathanTrent to learn more about his project and his approach
