In understanding the gesture of communication, be it in the form of speech or otherwise, the communicatorsâ intention is always to create the desired experience in the audience. Just as one creates and experiences oneâs self as the communicator, one co-creates the âotherâ as audience. It is this co-creative intention that shapes the communicative action. Communication, such as conversation as a form of communicative action, is an iterative process of achieving and refining shared conscious experience. A model for the intersubjective structure of communication is proposed in chapter 12.
