The DCLG's agenda includes several objectives that would have a direct impact on the problems associated with drug misuse:
- improving the quality of life of children, young people and families at risk;
- promoting healthier communities and narrowing health inequalities by targeting
- key local services to match need and by encouraging health lifestyles;
- creating safer and stronger communities by working with the police and other
- local agencies to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour, to strengthen
- community cohesion and to tackle drug abuse; and
- transforming the local environment by improving the quality, cleanliness and
- safety of public spaces.
