US lacks national standards for reporting child abuse.
We lack a national standard for reporting maltreatment-related child fatalities and near fatalities. The reporting requirements currently in federal law are not uniformly followed by states and there is no enforcement of these requirements.

Everyone needs to follow the same protocals when reporting child abuse.

Different states have different laws

People are afraid to report for fear that they may be wrong.
