1940-47: Jews fleeing Holocaust seek to migrate to Palestine
Around 100,000 European Jews, fleeing from the Holocaust and its aftermath, sought to migrate to British Mandate of Palestine, against Biritsh restrictions. Several thousand succeeded. Britain imposed a naval blockade and sent around 50,000 to internment camps in Cyprus, Mauritius and Palestine.
