19 June 2008: Egypt's brokered peace agreement for 6 months starts

Mahmoud Zahar, a leader of Hamas, confirmed at a news conference  that a truce was about to come into effect. A senior Israeli defense ministry official, Amos Gilad, traveled to Cairo to receive final clarifications. On his return, he told Israel Radio that an understanding had been achieved.
