GSI - Germany

The GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research (German: GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung) is a heavy ion research center founded in 1969 in Darmstadt, Germany, to conduct research on and with heavy-ion accelerators. An important technology developed at the GSI is the use of heavy ion beams for cancer treatment (from 1997).
