Quantum Mechanics

The field of physics which describes the fundamental phenomena at atomic scales, thus complementing classical physics, which addresses the macroscopic scales. Quantum mechanics helps explain phenomena such as superfluidity, superconductivity or the photoelectric effect. Quantum mechanics principles break with classical physics principles by abandoning the idea that physical quantities (such as position and speed) are perfectly determined and predictable to reason in terms of probabilities.
