Fusion

During a fusion reaction, two light nuclei combine into a heavy nucleus and a proton or a neutron. Part of the initial mass is converted into energy during the process. For instance, fusion reactions are the source of the energy the sun generates and radiates towards the planets of the solar system, including the Earth.
