ATLAS

One of the four major CERN experiments using the collisions produced at the LHC. It was designed to discover and study the Higgs boson, but also explore a wide range of physics topics, with the primary focus of improving our understanding of the fundamental constituents of matter. The CMS detector was built with the same objectives but different techniques, and data analysis is performed independently to allow cross-validation of the scientific results.
