Markus Hermann
Markus Herrmann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Université Laval and researcher at the CREATE and CIREQ research centre. His research focuses on theoretical modelling of various issues in environmental and resource economics, as well as bio-economics.
- He holds a PhD from the Université de Montréal. In particular, he has worked on population health issues relating to antibiotic resistance in humans and on the preservation of genetic diversity to avoid pest resistance towards genetically modified crops.
- His current research agenda is funded by a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council insight grant and covers the impact of habit formation and environmental consciousness among consumers on the stringency of environmental taxes. He also participates in a multidisciplinary project with Quebec’s national institute of public health (INSPQ) analysing the benefits of decreased disease prevalence due to the greening of urban spaces.
