IRU
Develop and evaluate new methods for user driven innovation and development processes where accessibility becomes a normal part.
The strategy we are using follows “Human centred design” principles such as the ISO 13407. Our approach is closer to Scandinavian co-operative design methods than other User-Centred-Design.
The prospective user is taking active part in the whole design process.
One of the main objectives is to explore the gap between the user approach and the developer’s idea of using a product or a service. Our methods are based on that individuals with limitations in their functioning are a valuable asset in the design process to indicate difficult areas of the usage.
We use the concept 'functional difficulties' instead of disabilities which gives another view on the design of products and services for “all people”.
The project takes active part in standardization work for example in CEN/BTWG 185 "European accessibility requirements for public procurement of products and services in the ICT domain “.
A main goal in the project is to develop evaluation methods for accessibility that will be seamlessly integrated in normal quality measurement.
