Synthetic Voice
Improving Accessibility for the Elderly and Handicapped: Microsoft is committed to adapting information technology to the requirements of the blind and visually impaired and has been developing "accessible" or barrier-free technologies for many years.
One of the latest developments came from a collaboration with the Digital Accessible Information System (DAISY) Consortium, through which Microsoft has developed technology to make Microsoft Office documents audible with a synthetic voice.
