This is an ideologically based point of view.
Equally it could be said, with more justification, that environmental catastrophe is a real threat to humanity. Response to that threat requires co-operation. Some ideologies (e.g.individualism) are absolutely opposed to co-operation and the idea of community, hence their absolute rejection of AGW.
