Contravenes the Refugee Convention

Australia is signatory of the Refugee Convention. Under this Convention, asylum seekers should not be penalised due of their method of arrival. Regardless of how or where they arrive in Australia, all are entitled to protection of their fundamental human rights, including the right to seek asylum
