A 2010 drive-by-wire vehicle has 10 million lines of code, going to 100 million by 2015. Electronics opens design space to low weight, high fuel economy vehicles that almost drive themselves. Add on reuse or recycle, and managing vehicle life cycles, and the complexity of our challenges is obvious.
