Federation Process (Federate)

A process in which information resources are "brought together" without filters, and organized in such a way that they form a map of the territory for which each resource is a associated.

In the case of Knowledge Federation, the root concept of this project, federation processes entail these kinds of functions:

  • Topic-centric organization of all resources
  • Harvesting of each resource for several purposes, including but not limited to
    • Detection of same subject aboutness, which leads to merging and maintenance of the subject-centric aspect of topic mapping
    • Deeper harvesting in terms of various forms of discovery, including but not limited to
      • Literature-based discovery
        • detecting un-connected dots
        • detecting contradiction
        • detecting processes
      • Process modeling
