National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) [1] is part of the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, in the US Department of Health and Human Services. It has the mandate to assure ‘every man and woman in the Nation safe and healthful working conditions and to preserve our human resources.’ NIOSH’s strategic objectives for 2016–2020 are to conduct research to reduce worker illness and injury, and to advance worker wellbeing; promote safe and healthy workers through interventions, recommendations and capacity building; and enhance international worker safety and health through global collaborations [2]
