Lambeth Early Action Partnership

The Lambeth Early Action Partnership (LEAP) [1] is an innovative programme to better the lives of thousands of children in the Lambeth community. LEAP comprises Lambeth Council, clinical commissioning groups, public health, and the King's Health Partners, as well as local voluntary organisations, community groups, parents, babies and children, the Young Lambeth Co-op, schools, nurseries, statutory bodies, local police leaders and the National Children's Bureau. Over the ten years of the project and beyond, LEAP aims to support the social, emotional, communication and language development of babies and children, their diet and nutrition as well as parents’ wellbeing, their social networks and the strength of their communities and wider environment. LEAP takes a public health approach to improving outcomes from maternity to early childhood through prevention and early intervention to make a real difference to the lives of children and their families. Working together with parents, carers, local workers and the community, it provides a wide range of programmes to support parents and change the way services work with families. It also trains Parent Champions to support other parents [2].
