Public Health England
Public Health England (PHE) [1] was established in 2013 to ‘protect and improve the nation's health and wellbeing, and reduce health inequalities’. It is responsible for ‘making the public healthier by encouraging discussions, advising government and supporting action by local government, the NHS and other people and organisations’ and ‘supporting the public so they can protect and improve their own health’, as well as collecting and analysing data and reporting on health [2]. The workplace is a key arena for health improvement, and PHE has developed a Workplace Wellbeing Charter (see separate entry), the first ever set of national standards on workplace health [3].
