"Sustainability is only through people." Dr. Tusu Tusubira. Steve Huter notes: Our colleague in Uganda, Tusu, eloquently captures the spirit of our discussions this week about a People-Centered Internet in this two-minute youtube video clip.

  • The Network Startup Resource Center (NSRC) and partners of the UbuntuNet Alliance began another chapter of the Train-the-Trainers initiative in Uganda. NSRC staff and collaborators Brian Candler, Patrick Okui, Dale Smith, Andy Linton and Philip Smith assisted and taught in a Campus Network Design workshop held at Uganda Christian University (UCU) as well as providing direct engineering assistance to both UCU and Nkumba University.
  • The workshop was organized and largely coordinated by Matisiko Perez of the Research and Education Network for Uganda (RENU) to assist with the rollout of RENU at UCU. Additional training and engineering assistance was provided by Damas Makweba of the Tanzania Education and Research Network (TERNET) and Maureen Wanja Njue of the Kenya Education Network (KENET). Sarah Kiden and UCU staff hosted the training event.
  • Dr. Tusubira, CEO of the UbuntuNet Alliance, was on-hand to speak with participants about the challenges of network development and the pervasive need to collaborate across the region.
