Universal Human Rights Declaration

Economic and Social Council approved the declaration prior to covenant and implementation, with government comments and revisions made based on the comments.

Conceived as "a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations",
the Universal Declaration of Human Rights has become just that: a yardstick by which to measure the degree of respect for, and compliance with, international human rights standards.
