In the context of Rosen, I think it was his daughter Judith who made the simple observation that sodium chloride, salt, behaves neither like chlorine nor sodium, that the organization (relations) make the compound behave differently. Rosen's work in anticipatory systems, it seems to me, belongs somewhere in this conversation.
