Congestion Tax

Cities can charge a fee for vehicles that enter city cores during congested times of day, to encourage substitution to public transport services that have a better greenhouse gas footprint.

This can reduce the emission of greenhouse gases, clear the air in pollution 'hot spots' that threaten children's health, and reduce traffic congestion.

This program has been used successfully in major cities such as London, and is being considered in New York.
