Pattern Language for Systemic Transformation & the Semantic Social Web

How our Pattern Language (PLAST) could be used in the context of the Semantic Social Web.

This is the highlight of the excellent discussion I had in Paris with Martin Pruvost-Beaurain (@Martin_PB) about how our Pattern Language (PLAST) could be used in the context (both philosophical/teleological and technological) of the Assemblée Virtuelle:

The Assemblée Virtuelle provides a space where visions/activities sharing the same objects/attributes/ 'attractors?' or action dynamics (projects actors ideas resources PAIRs) can connect and aggregate into emergent platforms or networks of networks (PAIR to PAIR) for social innovation…

The PLAST provides means to express/interpret in relational, combinatory and dynamic ways the elemental systemic segments (behaviors / phenomena) which can help describe, construct, interpret, discuss, assess, validate, adjust projects, activities or situations. The objective of the PLAST is to untangle the effects whose causes are structural/systemic (i.e. live on their own) from those who are the produce of intention (see complexity economics).

In the ecosystems of the Assemblée virtuelle, the PLAST would enable to 'qualify' the attributes, their relationships, and the intended as well as observed effects (dynamic / systemic categorization / ontology)

Using the PL as semantic dynamic ontology (wording tbd), the various stakeholders of the web would be able to:

  • Display intended singular/elementary or combined dynamics and effects (declaration/tagging badge - PAIRs with certain attributes)
  • Explore the ecosystem to identify or seek specific dynamics and combinations of dynamic effects (semantic query) to find possibilities and PAIRs. In automated as well as conscious ways.
  • Assess, criticize and readjust observed dynamics and effects (annotation: interpretation, controversy and the query of the pharmakon)
In a perpetually ongoing interpretative, and appreciative as well as critical inquiry of systemic mechanisms.

This is quite in line with what the IRI and Ars Industrialis, and Bernard Stiegler whom I met in Paris too, are working on to foster the emergence of a hermeneutical (interpretative) and de-automatised web tooled with languages for annotation and for tracking of annotation. More on this soon.
