A couple of comments on these publications.

Understanding Bipolar Disorder: Why some people experience extreme mood states
and what can help
 (2010)

Note: A lot has changed in four years. For example, there is no link to the online OCD-10 which would allow those labeled to see exactly why there were labeled.

Understanding Psychosis and Schizophrenia: Why people sometimes hear voices, believe things that others find strange, or appear out of touch with reality and what can help. Publication Date November 2014.

Note: The title/subtitle has the unfortunate consequence of implying that those who have those experiences in the latter should be labeled with the former.

In fact, opinion differs even among mental care workers as to whether "schizophrenia" exists at all and recent changes to the definition of "schizophrenia" put into question all current "diagnoses" and all research., as well as apparently removing "hearing voices" as a sufficient condition for receiving a "diagnosis" of schizophrenia. Certainly there is a now vocal group of people who will insist that "hearing voices" is in no way indicative of anything that requires a label from a psychiatrist or psychologist. See: @VoicesUnltd, for example.

It will be interesting to see whether the publication reports on the possibility of complete recovery from schizophrenia. See for example the MIndFreedom Survey of 2012.
