Are global attention monitoring systems developing?
Global attention monitoring can address value assignment to our perceptions and can help monitor research activities. Some apps will provide short-term attention data, some might provide longer-term information.
Attention focus is very important in individual humans because of our need to translate massive information into a small number of constrained choices. Attention, along with pattern recognition and perception filters all help reduce information to actionable levels.
AGI will have far less need for attentional focus because they will run massively parallel sensing-action systems. However, attention can still provide value information. What might be important is to be able to differentiate flitting, short-term and longer-term attention.
