If the Chinese intend to have a moon base, the U.S. must do so too.

Ignoring a moon base could be costly, from a military standpoint as well as economically. We may be able to mine minerals and generate energy on the moon. New technologies will be developed to accomplish the mission of constructing and maintaing a lunar base.
