CO2 black body radiation curve.

CO2 has two spectral where it absorbs InfraRed radiation, the Medium Wave InfraRed (MWIR) and the Low Wave InfraRed (LWIR). The MWIR band of absorption excites stretching vibration modes, and the LWIR band of absorption excites bending vibration modes.
