Kimberly Wiefling @F4H2014

In this presentation from the Franchise for Humanity Stanford University, California 2-20-2014, Kimberly Wiefling, trained in physics and chemistry, shares some tools she uses to inspire leadership from anywhere in a corporation.

There will always be things outside of our control (like gravity), but don't let that stop you from working to make a difference.

Kimberly shares her belief that global businesses will be the place that generates solutions.

She found herself startled to learn that Vision 2050 predicted that 9 billion people on the planet will be consuming 2.3 earths. It's time to take on the big challenges.

What's needed: leadership. And, it's different from management. Leadership entails
talking about something with passion and enthusiasm. Listening to others generously, as if what they were saying had gold in it, and it's your job to mine it.

The Tools:

1) Sincere interest in what the other person is saying

2) Attitude of gratitude. Sincere appreciation for what someone has done for you.

3) Having fun together

When you want to change the world, you have to start by thinking of your big crazy dream. Kimberly finds that when she asks people what their three major wishes would be if they had a magic wand that could change anything, they only speak of what they don't want. So, be ready with the answer to the question: "what's your big crazy dream for the future?"

Quoting Winston Churchill 'With greatness comes great responsibility'. She asks everyone to find something they care about more than being comfortable, and work like it matters, because it does.

Your charge - Make a big difference on the planet! And have fun.
