Tatyana Kanzaveli @F4H2014

Tatyana Kanzaveli, CEO and founder Open Cancer Network gave this presentation at the Franchise for Humanity at Stanford University, California on Feb 21, 2014.

Tatyana's premise: Health care is sick care. Doctors treat your symptoms or specific disease, but what do they really know about you? Tatyana talks about personalized medicine, informed by your history and habits, state of mind, patterns, etc. with CDC, EPA, and other sources of social media data, and is developing a huge repository of non-clinical data. She contrasts this with the current situation, where we have 'zero knowledge' of the patient.

Tatyana underwent surgery one year ago for cancer, and had no idea how or why she got it. There are 5,000 new cancer cases in the United States every day. The World Health Organization predicts that cancer will increase by 57% over the next 10-20 yrs. No one knows why - 75-80% of cancers are not genetic in nature.

Her team is gathering data in a unique way to track diseases and syndromes that are increasing dramatically. The technology to gather and engage this large data stream will be an app you can purchase online, connecting a whole ecosystem of patients.
