Unhangout

A platform for unconferences, on the web

Appears to be a Node.js project

Unhangout is an open sourceplatform for running large scale online un-conferences.We use Google Hangouts to create as many small sessionsas needed, and help users find others with sharedinterests.

Think of it as a classroom with an infinitenumber of breakout sessions. Each event has a landingpage, which we call the lobby. When participantsarrive, they can see who else is there and chat witheach other. The hosts can do a video welcome andintroduction that gets streamed into the lobby.Participants then break out into smaller sessions (upto 10 people per session) for in-depth conversations,peer-to-peer learning, and collaboration on projects.UnHangouts are community-based learning instead oftop-down information transfer.

Open Source

Unhangout is an open sourceproject. You can find the code in our repository onGitHub. Please let us know if you're interested inhosting your own unhangout events - we would be happyto help you get this set up on your own servers. Insome situations, we might be able to host your event onour installation, too.
