14: CDC to research the causes and prevention of gun violence

Issue a Presidential Memorandum directing the Centers for Disease Control to research the causes and prevention of gun violence.

A Presidential Memorandum on Engaging in Public Health Research on the Causes and Prevention of Gun Violence was released on 16 January 2013.

The first steps will be to:

  • identify the most pressing research questions with the greatest potential public health impact; and
  • assess existing public health interventions being implemented across the Nation to prevent gun violence.
