Industrial policy is being ignored
Chris Blattman argues that the UN is ignoring industrial policy (and particularly export growth) as a (the?) means to ending poverty
Blattman argues that there's too much focus on the wrong kind of governance tools (e.g. anti-corruption methods) and not enough on basic industrial policy.
"Helping poor women set up a market stall, or small farmers double their profits, is a good and noble goal. Figuring out how to do this is my day job. But it is a humanitarian strategy, not a growth strategy. Real economic change will wait for industry."
